Flying Blue – the rewards program for Air France and KLM have released their promotion the ‘Promo Awards‘ The offer is 25 -50% off the number of points for a awards ticket. This discount is only applicable for flights to and from specific countries.
The promotion could prove to be very lucrative as it is for travel during the peak summer dates.
I had a quick look at the routes applicable for a flight from Europe and it seems that the majority of flights to Central America, South America and North America are 25% off; where as Asia pacific, Middle East, Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Africa are 50%
Note: American Express Membership Rewards is a partner of KLM. Therefore if you previously didn’t have any Flying Blue points – don’t worry, you can transfer American Express Reward points across.

Verdict:
Very good promotion for business class redemption during the summer peak season. However, Flying Blue does charge a lot for fuel surcharge. I did a dummy booking for a return Paris to Washington DC on Business Class and the tax and fuel surcharge was nearly £600 – which is still cheaper than buying a cash ticket in economy.
My Rating: 3.5 out of 5
