Previously, I wrote about the top 5 pool parties in Vegas. If that post inspired you to pack up your suitcase and head straight to Vegas for some pool party fun then this post is a must read. I’ve been to many pool parties and I’ve learnt a thing or two – most of the time the hard way. Therefore I thought I’ll provide a comprehensive list of things to do or not to prepare yourself for the time of your life.
1. Do your research – find out who’ s performing before you go. You never know who’s on the turntable and I made this mistake when I went to EBC. The first time I went David Guetta was performing and he was awesome. The second time I went a 17 year old DJ called Madeon was performing – who actually looks like he’s 12. He was a decent DJ but whenever I saw him on stage I just thought, ‘ Where’s this kids mum’. It’s fair to say the Guetta performance was more memorable.
2. Apply long lasting water proof sun cream, SPF HIGH!!! Vegas is hot – very very hot and these pool parties last all day and you’re more likely to end up in Britney Spears’ suite than to find shade in a pool party.
3. It’s a pool party you will get wet! Only take things to the pool party that you don’t mind getting wet. I learnt this the hard way when I went to one of the pools in Marquee day club where the water was below knee high. I thought my £200 Gucci wallet would be safe in my pocket. I was wrong, the party got wild, water splashing all over the place and my wallet was absolutely destroyed. Though I didn’t care, I was having such a fun time. But others in this situation might not be as chilled out as me. In which case you have been warned.
There are lockers in the pool parties which you can hire for the whole day and use as often as you want…BUT it costs around $50. Not cheap indeed.
4. Drinks in Vegas clubs are expensive and a pool party is no exception. I recommend pre-drinking in your hotel room while you get ready. I can say that the first shot you have when you wake up will not feel good, especially if you had a heavy night the night before, but if you’re going to Vegas on a budget then this is a must.
To keep you’re drinks nice and cold ,Use your bath tub as a ice bucket.
If however, you want a strong drink at a pool party that is really going to hit you straight away than you must order an AMF which stands for Adios Mother F$%er (censored). As the name rightly suggests, if you drink too much of this, then your day may end earlier than expected.
5. Stay Hydrated - If you’re not drinking alcohol than drink something. You’re in a desert; it’s ridiculously hot and you’re going to be outside for a long time. Keep hydrated to ensure you make the most of the pool party.
6. Arrive early -Like any popular club wherever you go a queue is inevitable but when it comes to Vegas these queues are ten times bigger especially when you’re going to the hottest pool parties. This is especially necessary if you’re a group of men because like any good club, a ‘sausage fest’ is a big no no – So clubs try to ensure there’s a good mix of men and women in the club.
Final note:
Most of these issues can be avoided if you get a cabana. A cabana is not cheap but if you’re going as a group of guys then this will definitely ensure you get in and when you split the cost between you it works out okay. Also it will include bottle service you’re an absolute baller when you have bottle service as portrayed by the clip below.
